WELCOME

The Clemson Area African American Museum (CAAAM) is one of the leading cultural institutions in the city of Clemson and the only museum in Pickens county devoted to local African American history.

Located in what was once the Calhoun Colored School, CAAAM focuses on how Africans and their descendants shaped upstate South Carolina and the rural south.

Open: Tuesday- Friday  10 am- 4 pm.

             1st Saturdays are not available at this time.

MISSION

The Clemson Area African American Museum represents Pickens County with a special emphasis on collecting books, documents, artifacts and other cultural objects relating to African American life in upstate South Carolina.

We focus on stories rooted in people, places and traditions that provide enduring lessons for navigating contemporary life.
