The Clemson Area African American Museum offers exhibits throughout the year. The museum features semi-permanent, fine art and pop-up exhibits.

Sewful Expressions

The Clemson Area African American Museum (CAAAM) is proud to present Sewful Expressions, featuring the work of celebrated artist and quilter Sheila Gaines.

Sewful Expressions will be on view from September 11, 2026 through April 2, 2027.

Sports Exhibit

"Sincerely, Daniel" 

​

The sports exhibition, Sincerely, Daniel is no longer open to the public. Currently, with the assistance of the Clemson University Library Services, the exhibit is in the process of being archived for future generations. We apologize for any  inconvenience and ask for your patience as the museum proceeds with the archival and deinstallation of the Sincerely, Daniel exhibit.

 

   Thank you to all that made the exhibit a huge success.

The Clemson Area African American Museum (CAAAM) is located in the former segregated Calhoun Colored School. The Calhoun Colored School was named after the surrounding area which is now known as Clemson. The museum shares this space with The Arts Center and the Clemson Child Development Center.
